Our Data Promise

Your vault contains the most personal information a family can have. We treat that responsibility as sacred.

  • We will never sell your data. Ever.

    Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your information is not our product — you are our customer.

  • Your data is never used to train AI models.

    EmberKeep uses Google Gemini's paid API tier. Under their paid terms, your data is never used for model training, improvement, or any purpose beyond processing your request. Your words stay yours.

  • No ads. No trackers. No data monetization.

    We make money one way: you pay for the product. That's it. No advertising, no analytics selling, no “anonymous” data sharing.

  • You own your data. You can delete it anytime.

    Export everything as a PDF. Delete your account and every byte of data instantly. If EmberKeep ever shuts down, you get 90 days notice and full export access.

What We Collect

EmberKeep collects only the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, and the estate planning information you enter into your vault sections. We also collect basic usage analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. We do not collect or store biometric data, location data, or device fingerprints.

How We Use Your Data

Your vault data is used for one purpose: to provide the EmberKeep service to you and your designated family members. Specifically:

  • Storing and displaying your vault information when you log in
  • Sharing vault access with family members you explicitly authorize
  • Generating AI-guided conversations and document insights (processed via Google Gemini's paid API — your data is not retained by Google after processing)
  • Sending transactional emails you initiate (account confirmations, family invitations, commitment reminders)

We do not use your data for marketing profiling, behavioral targeting, or any form of monetization beyond the service you pay for.

AI & Your Privacy

EmberKeep uses AI to help you organize your estate information through guided conversations and document analysis. Here is exactly how your data is handled:

  • Provider: Google Gemini, paid API tier (not the free consumer product)
  • Training: Your data is never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model
  • Retention: Google does not retain your prompts or responses after processing under their paid API terms
  • Scope: Only the specific vault section you're working on is sent to the AI — never your entire vault
  • Logging: We log AI usage counts for billing purposes only, not the content of your conversations

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (powered by PostgreSQL on Google Cloud) with AES-256 encryption at rest. Authentication is handled by Clerk with enterprise-grade session management. All data transfers use TLS 1.3 encryption. See our Security page for full details.

Data Portability & Deletion

You are in complete control of your data:

  • Export: Download your complete vault as a PDF at any time
  • Delete: Permanently erase your account and all associated data instantly from your vault settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
  • Shutdown: If EmberKeep ever ceases operations, we commit to providing at least 90 days notice and full data export access before any data is removed

Cookies & Tracking

EmberKeep uses essential cookies for authentication and session management only. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party trackers. We do not serve display ads. We do not participate in any ad networks or data exchanges.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate EmberKeep. Each processes only the minimum data required for their function:

  • Clerk — authentication and session management
  • Supabase — database and file storage (Google Cloud infrastructure)
  • Stripe — payment processing (we never see or store your card number)
  • Google Gemini — AI features (paid API, no data retention or training)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Vercel — application hosting

None of these services have access to your vault contents beyond what is required to perform their specific function. We do not share your data with any service for marketing, analytics, or any purpose outside of operating EmberKeep.
